Drama with the links

white text reads "A Bit of Linky Drama" on a bacground of a tropical island viewed from above.

For all intents and purposes, this site is ready to share with the world. The only glaring thing is that the links in the social share bar (which populates on scroll-up of an individual post page) are still linking incorrectly.

Jason Bahl was gracious enough to hop on a call with me and showed me that the home URL and site URL settings in WordPress are actually what is being used to create those links, and so since the WordPress site lives at gatsby.wpsteward.com and the Live front end lives at gatz.wpsteward.com, I need to change my site address to the gatz flavor.

That works, sort of. The homepage of the site is at gatz.wpsteward.com, but individual blog posts live at gatz.wpsteward.com/blog/slug.

That means that if I change the site address to the /blog flavor, the home page won’t work right, AND the About link in the menu won’t work right. But if I leave it as is, the social share links output the individual posts without the /blog part of the slug, and that’s no bueno either.

For now, I am ready to share the site with the world, and know from personal experience how few people click the social share buttons anyway, so I’m just gonna go with it and fix it later.
